Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book a session, or buy a package?

You can book your free, no obligation consultation here. Alternatively, you can contact me to arrange this. Please include the child/children's age(s), details of any specific requirements and your chosen subject and level. You can declare which package you are interested in at this point, with no commitment at all. During the initial consultation, packages and payments will also be discussed and I will be happy to answer any and all questions.

What is included in a session?

Please view my package and pricing information here for more detail.

My child has Special Educational Needs/Additional Learning Needs - will you be able to tutor them?

At Academic Hope, there is a fundamental belief in doing thing differently to help learners achieve their individual goals. Every single person is an individual, each with our own thoughts, wants and needs. For some of us, that means the way we approach learning itself is fundamentally different. To me, this simply means tuition should be adapted to the learner - which is exactly what I'm all about. I will work with you and your child to find the way that works for them. This is something we will discuss in the initial consultation, and will work together to ensure all learners can unlock their full potential.

Are lessons more expensive if my child has Special Educational Needs/Additional Learning Needs?

No! Lessons are not, and never will be, more expensive for a child with additional needs. All children deserve fair access to education, and no one should be penalised for needing to do thing a little differently - that's why adaptation exists.

Do you offer (free) trial sessions?

I am unable to offer free trial sessions at this time, but do offer and require everyone to partake in a free 30 minute consultation before any lessons can begin.

Why is it not possible to mix subjects at GCSE and A Level on the Bronze and Silver Tiers?

I'm committed to helping each learner unlock their potential, which means giving things the time they need. At Key Stage 1-3 it's possible to divide the 60 minute lessons in half as the lower level allows things to be covered more easily. For GCSE and A Level, not only is the content harder and more in depth, but learners also need to understand how to apply their knowledge, often with an exam board specific twist. As such, 30 minutes on each subject would not allow deep enough learning at GCSE and A Level. Gold Tier sessions are 90 minutes long, and this extra time allows the session to be divided between two subjects without compromising the learners experience. Alternatively, it is possible to have multiple subscriptions e.g. Bronze GCSE Maths and Bronze GCSE English, which would allow an hour of tuition dedicated to each subject per week.
